About Joanne Jackson
EducationBA Piano Pedagogy
California State University, Chico Since moving to Oregon in 2000, I studied jazz piano privately with Gordon Lee, jazz flute with Rob Schepps, and flute with John Savage, ending in 2013. In France, 2017, I studied with a jazz piano teacher, and a classical flute teacher, both in Angoleume and active teachers/performers. |
ExperienceMy first student began in 1980 while I was a college student. I had 50 students by 1986, and have been teaching since then.
During college, part of my training was a year of the Suzuki Piano Method. Since that time I have taught students under the age of four utilizing some Suzuki rhythm and theory methods. |
PhilosophyI am trained to teach any genre of written music, but especially encourage improvisation as a part of every lesson. I encourage students to work on music of their choice, as well as standard teaching methods. I love working with all ages, and have experience working with all ages, as each student is so different. The excitement of teaching is the challenge to find what inspires each person to practice and enjoy music.
